Even though most women hate having a monthly menstrual cycle, almost none of them actively look forward to menopause. The basic fact of the matter is that women have a hard time dealing with menopause. Some women report that it is more intense than the feeling you get when you go from a room that is too cold to a room that is too hot. Hot flashes can occur at any time of the day or night. When the hot flash happens at night, it is called a “night sweat.” Perhaps one of the more embarrassing menopause symptoms for women is the change in hair growth. Lots of women report that they start to lose hair in most of the places where it is normal for hair to grow (like the hair and the pubic area). At the same time that this hair loss is occurring, they start to experience hair growth in areas that are unusual like the face and chest. Every woman has different types of hair growth. Call your doctor if you start to lose hair in some places and grow hair in other places. It is possible that you could be experiencing menopause.
A heightened sense of anxiety is fairly common in women who are going through menopause. This symptom alone can rear it’s ugly head in many ways. For some women these sensations become so strong that they get mistaken for panic attacks. Should one of the women in your life begin to behave in this manner or have these symptoms you can probably assume she has begun to go through the “change”. Try to help her stay calm and be sensitive to what she is going through.
Menopause, plainly put, is not fun. It is one of the hardest things in life a women must endure. The other people in the woman’s life often endure difficulty too. Keep in mind while supporting your significant other that she does not have a say in what is happening to her right now. The changes her body is experiencing and reacting to are involuntary. Try offering her as much support and understanding as you can muster. Eventually she will even out again. Recognizing the signs of menopause will help you become more understanding of what’s happening to her and ultimately make the process more manageable for you.
